After the success of two talent show performances, the K1 Direction snuck into the recording studio to record their self-written song: “Right Here Right Now”. Co-written by Jacob and Will (as well as drums and piano played by them respectively), bass from Charles, and vocals from Liam, their manager Levi decided that their song will be the next hit, releasing it exclusively to Beber Rocks. We invite you to sit back and rock and roar with K1 Direction.
Georgia and Eliana sang about all that Beber Camp has to offer in their re-written version of Taylor Swift’s “Paper Rings”. From the farm to the challenge course, and the aquapark to the pool, “Beber Rings” highlights what makes Beber special, and better than other normal camps.
Aaron, Samantha, Hank, Ari, Anton, and Eden share their favorite things they do at camp with a parody to Taylor Swifts “Look What You Made Me Do”. They also filmed an amazing music video and had a fun time doing looping exercises.
We ran a ukulele building hobby in our last week of camp, and Rotem and Sam made the most of this collab between Music and Arts&Crafts departments - with Rotem creating a floral decor, and Sam sticking with his CIT time-theme (while also helping Rotem with hers as a goo CIT would!)
We can’t wait to strum em for ya next summer!
Ari takes the camp classic prayer, the hamotzi, and braids his own twists into it. From designing and playing his own beat to writing his own rap, he proved that he has glu-tons of skill. He played with vocal dynamics, using his loud voice to challah out “amen”. Now that he has finished rapping, we can feast on his music.
K-14IO (consisting of Jacob, Will, and Asher) redubs the Star Wars Main Theme to retell the tragic fate of Anakin Skywalker, as he succumbs to the dark side. Through captivating vocals, precise drum beats, and keyboard skills that make Figrin D'an and Max Rebo seem obsolete, K-14IO entered hyperdrive to write and record their song.
Ringo Starr? Meg White? Roger Taylor? Never heard of em.
That’s cuz Jacob brought a drum kit into the recording studio to redub classic rock songs. No one could stop him when adding tambourine, cowbell, cajon, cymbals, and drums to Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now”. He then used his above-basic bass skills to combine bass and drums to The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army”. Finally, the culmination of his hard work came together in The Beatles’ “Come Together”.
Check out these tracks below with a REAL drumming legend behind the kit!
Our Judaics director had a title for a hobby in mind, and when that title is “Jon Ruins Music” a title is good enough, you know the rest will sort itself out.
And it did - the campers in the hobby picked the classic flagpole song “Tucked Away” as the object of their ruin, and broke it into three distinct sections - punk, rap, and jazz. Our Beber tradition will never be thought of the same way again!
Here they are performing it live at BeberFest 2023!
Mustache Maniacs started as the result of a dramatic rock band's split because of a really deep discussion on the presence of a mustache. The band consists of Ellie who rocks on the drums, Ruthie who just picked up the bass, and Sylvie smashing the keys, with their fearless leader Violet on vocals.
A Mustache Maniacs performance is not just a concert; it's a full-fledged theatrical experience. The band's members adorn themselves in vibrant mustaches, embracing a new form of rock and roll inspired by their mustached mailbox, Jeff. Listen to their new hit that tells the story of said mailbox down below, with hand written lyrics below that!
Fine Arts Fest for second session 2023 may be behind us now, but we can always look back to these incredible band performances right here on Beber Rocks! Check them out now! (More coming in the days ahead!)
SEE AN ENEMY - The Story of Us
MUSTACHE MANIACS - JEFF THE MAILBOX (Stacy Mom parody)
NO REFUNDS - SWEET CHILD O’ MINE
"See an Enemy," delivered an unforgettable performance filled with daring musical ambition. Drawing inspiration from a sea anemone, their name alone hinted at their cut throat quest for fame. In a moment that could only be described as pure rock paradise, the band performed Taylor Swift's "Story of Us", thus showcasing their musical prowess. New to the stage, Meredith (piano), who had never played the piano before, joined her friend Hannah (vocals) to create this iconic band. Their journey from humble beginnings and various debrief sessions to booking a major gig at Fine Arts Fest illustrated how passion and courage can take you far. This group left the audience eagerly waiting for the next chapter…
"Hey Mom," a dynamic rock band, effortlessly channeled the spirit of nostalgia with their electrifying rendition of "When I Come Around" by Green Day. With their own signature twist, Ari (vocals/percussion), Oreo (drums), Mari (vocals), Sylvie (piano), Ruthie (bass), Jacob (electric guitar), and Ellie (drums) breathed new life into this iconic track, capturing the essence of youthful rebellion and carefree energy that Green Day is known for. "Hey Mom" brought their own unique sound to the stage, infusing the song with passion and charisma. Their performance was a powerful homage to both their rock influences (the moms of the world) and the timeless appeal of Green Day's music. Check out the performance below!
"No Refunds", an enigmatic band with a story as unique as their sound, draws its name from an unexpected source: the story of someone who was scammed on Etsy and refused a refund. The band's name, "No Refunds" serves as a reminder of the unpredictable twists of life, echoing the idea that artistic expression can emerge from the most unexpected corners. Jaden (bass), Adam (electric guitar), Lucy (drums), Toby (piano), and Hannah (vocals) channeled the spirit of hundreds of rockers who came before them and infused their music with raw emotion and a refusal to accept NO REFUND. Here they are performing a classic hit “Sweet Child o’ Mine”.
After last year, there was a lot of speculation about whether or not this group of rockers would be back making music, but the real fans had no doubt that “I Agree with Pickle” was just getting started. Last year they went off the rails on a crazy train, and this year they’ve taken it a step further and BROKEN. THE. LAW. Although they lost French Fry, this year they gained a new member who has been making a name for themselves around camp thanks to their talent on the bass. Lil’ Croissant may have just joined, but he’s clearly meant to be a part of this famous group. With criminally amazing musicality, “I Agree with Pickle” transformed Crown Hall into a room flowing with lawless energy. Watch out because Pickle, Oreo, Chainsaw, Lil’ Croissant, and Rainbow will be starting a full fledged jailbreak the minute they hit the stage. Is this group criminally underrated? See for yourself and check out their music video and very real wanted posters below!
Dimension OK31 doesn’t come from a different planet - just a different dimension. A dimension governed by music! Instruments dance and play themselves, and so much more. Usually rock bands at camp do cover songs. But this Makor band wrote their own, and we are all about that. They only had one tour date this year in OUR dimension, and it was at BeberFest, check it out below!
LYRICS:
I was sad at home
Bored like a garden gnome
then I found the land
of the dancing violins
They asked me if i wanna play
and i said "sure, ok"
They took me to this magic land
Where drums would play themselves and jam
Welcome to dimension OK31
If you come with us, you will sing and dance all night
Beberfest was a huge success, with even more bands than Fine Arts Fest despite the fact that it was only a 4-day hobby rotation! Here’s the videos of the band performances:
DIPPED - “LAY ALL YOUR LOVE ON ME”
HEY MOM - “WHEN I COME AROUND”
iBROWS - TUCKED AWAY ROCK
Beber’s latest supergroup Dipped is comin’ in hot right at the end of the session to remind camp that it ain’t over yet! They had one quick rehearsal before half the band dipped out the second day for the Senior Ramot trip and then one of the lead singers dipped out to star in the Musical. There was so much dippin’ it became their band name, but it didn’t stop them from learning a difficult song in a short hobby rotation. Check out their triumphant headline performance at BeberFest 2023 that earned them the title “Band of the Session” for Ramot!
Here’s a rare rehearsal clip filmed in the recording studio, when Lila was gone for Beauty and the Beast rehearsals and the stage was occupied too so we couldn’t rehearse there:
Yes, it’s that time again - after recording a version of this in 2019 and 2021, Lara and Natalie are back with their latest acoustic version of Russell is a Wiener. Russell Wiener is our Music Director, and the song you will probably recognize. Woo!
Get ready to groove to the rhythm of Mira and Caroline's electrifying songs "Not Scared Anymore", “Go For it” (art by Marin), “Creepy Old TV”, “Born to Die”, and “Part of Your World”. With Mira's fierce flow, and Caroline's banging beats, this dynamic duo will have you nodding your head and feeling the adrenaline surge through your veins. Let the power of their rap uplift and inspire you to chase your dreams and seize every opportunity that comes your way!
Here are some behind the scenes photos and videos - and even a recording of THREE original, very silly songs from Caroline and Mira in G1 (the second of which had help from some Makor friends and was recorded several weeks later), in addition to the whole cabin singing the Disney classic Part Of That World. Listen below!
Macy came to camp with two prewritten songs. She changed the lyrics to “Fight Song” and “Chicken Fried” to reflect her experiences coming to and leaving from Beber Camp. Evelyn and Saul both wrote their own covers of “I Want it That Way” and “Drivers License” based on their camp experiences. Evelyn and Whitney additionally wrote their own song, called “Love Yourself”.
